TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY
The Tools and Technology Group aim to address the availability and competency of tools and technology currently in play within the BIM arena, specifically those tools and technology used within the UK rail industry.
Assess the current tools and technology within the BIM market
Promote the use of tools and technology, specifically those within the Information Technology (IT) arena, to allow for best practice adoption of BIM within the UK Rail Industry
Act as a focus point for members of the BIM industry to engage, network and collaborate
The BIM4Rail T&T group founded by Daniel Irwin and Ian Childs are chaired by Daniel Irwin.
The T&T working group will be facilitated by at least one (1) member of the BIM4Rail Committee at any time.
Current facilitators are Daniel Irwin and Ian Childs
The following positions will be appointed within the group: Chair, Ops Lead and Secretary
This group is an open membership group which relies on voluntary contribution from those who are willing to help. As such membership is not limited in any way
Any members of the group acknowledge that the group is industry led and not to be driven in any way by third party vendor desires
This group will be self governed with respect to delivery of any outputs, aided by facilitators drawn from the main committee of the BIM4Rail Group.
Disputes arising within this group will be referred to the BIM4Rail Committee by at least one (1) of the group facilitators for adjudication and members agree to abide by the decision of the BIM4Rail Committee
Members of the group will physically convene at least once per quarter, and convene virtually at least once per month
There should be no external influences on the group from any third party other than BIM4Rail governing committee
The group will be guided by a principle of open and honest dialogue..
Primary communication between group members will primarily be undertaken using electronic mail via a distribution list maintained within this document.
Sharing of documents, spreadsheets and other media will be achieved through use of a Google Drive account.
These communication channels will be reviewed at an appropriate time in the future.
Any communication between other groups within the BIM4Rail workstreams can be done so by individual members, however any such communications should be shared with the group at an appropriate time
Produce and distribute a report of the current state of implementation of BIM tools and technology, based on the survey conducted in October / November 2017.
Develop a software capability matrix comparing and contrasting the available software on the market against
Implement an open forum for discussion of all things techie within the BIM world!
Produce and share articles and advice on how to get BIM software and IT Strategies to work for organisations.
